Inspire Lifelong Learning With Our NE Calgary Private School

Overview of Junior Kindergarten

The junior kindergarten program comprises of education in early literacy, early numeracy, weather, time, learning through play and other structured modules.

This phase of a child's education prepares him or her for kindergarten and beyond. It is important to establish good learning habits from a young age. Children at our school are especially trained in discipline and academics.

Details about the program

This program is for students who will be 3 years and 6 months before September 1st of a given year. Children’s early learning experiences have a profound effect on their development. These early interactions directly affect the way connections are made in the brain. Early learning experiences are crucial to the future well-being of children, and establish the foundation for the acquisition of knowledge and skills that will affect later learning and behaviour. Before they go to school, children have been learning in a variety of environments – in their homes and in childcare and community settings. Children arrive at school with different backgrounds and experiences and at different stages of development. Positive early experiences with school are of paramount importance to young children. Children thrive within classrooms that meet their physical and developmental needs and that provide a secure, respectful, and nurturing environment.

The program has similar structure to a kindergarten program offered at public and private schools. It includes early literacy, early numeracy, citizenship and identity, homework to reinforce concepts introduced in class, learning through play, environmental awareness, development of gross and fine motor skills and much more. The benefit of this program is that children are very well prepared to excel in kindergarten in the next year and develop academic and social skills that will serve them well the rest of their lives.
